Boliden’s R&D program in artificial intelligence drives initiatives in AI and machine learning for process control and mine automation applications. Boliden Edge Lab is the AI program’s initiative to address this challenge for Boliden Mines. Boliden Edge Lab is a hybrid cloud platform that enables Boliden Mines to rapidly develop and test AI-based solutions for its operations. It allows Boliden to demonstrate the value of AI in a secure and efficient way through cloud-native technologies. The exhibition will present the philosophy behind Boliden Edge Lab and explain why it is a natural arena for collaboration with academia and industry. We investigate AI-based security monitoring in next-generation networks, aiming to make alerts both understandable and actionable. Our research focuses on explainability, studying logic-based and statistical XAI to expose strengths and trade-offs with a purpose of finding relevant (minimal) explanations. Beyond explaining why an alert is raised, we explore what can be done next using constrained counterfactuals to suggest plausible, feasible actions towards response and recovery.

The SciLifeLab and Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) aims to recruit and train the next-generation of data-driven life scientists in Sweden. The program is funded with a total of 3.3 billion SEK over 12 years from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. The DDLS program has four strategic areas: cell and molecular biology, evolution and biodiversity, precision medicine and diagnostics, epidemiology and biology of infection.
